Fire Barrier Systems
Firestop and fire-resistive joint systems for penetrations that move — designed to be tested, certified and installed, not just drawn.
Most firestop assumes the penetration holds still. Real buildings do not: pipes move with thermal cycling, structures move with seismic loading, and a barrier that is rated at rest can fail the first time the building breathes.
432 Design engineers dynamically-moving pipe-penetration fire barrier systems and carries them through the testing that makes them specifiable — UL 2079 and ASTM E1966 cycling, then the fire test. The first such system was designed for the Greater Toronto Airport Authority and cycle-tested 500 times before it ever saw flame.
Capabilities
- Dynamic pipe-penetration fire barrier design
- Fire-resistive joint systems (ASTM E1966)
- UL 2079 Class I, II and III movement classes
- Seismic and thermal cycle testing programs
- Third-party lab test coordination and witness
- Submittal, detail and installation documentation
Every engagement is scoped and priced to the project.
